Summer Snippets
Fans running 24/7 all over the house.
Air conditioner running full blast in the livingroom from 9:00 am until 12:30 am.
Sweat running down my back, down my face, dripping off my nose, falling in my eyes.
Hair still wet on the nape of my neck, even 5 hours after a shower.
Flowers everywhere, in every color.
Girls dressed immodestly. Shockingly immodest at times!
Sunshine – blessed sunshine!
Temperatures outside: 80-100 degrees, humidity 50-100%.
Temperatures inside: 78-90 degrees, humidity 45-55%, even with the a/c going.
Crops growing in the fields.
Fresh fruits and veggies at the outdoor markets, more full of flavor than any ever bought at a super market.
Children running and playing in the “coolness” of evening.
Birds chirping in the trees of our balcony, from sun up to sun down.
Dogs lying in the shade on the streets or sidewalks, panting in the heat.
Cats stretched out full length and draped over various objects, high up on top of shed roofs or fences, away from the dogs, lazily watching the world go by.
Mel and I walking down the street, faces beet red, sweat running off all over our bodies, drinking often from water bottles, wondering how Ukrainians manage to look so cool in the heat.
Mel and I sitting in our livingroom, sprawled out in our chairs, soaking up the coolness provided by the a/c and fans.
