Morning in America

One of the reasons I love looking at live webcam photos of the following two places is because of the depth and beauty in the actual geologic formations within the photos.

As I look at this photo, I am drawn farther and farther away from the shore and back into the depths of distance. I wonder - what is there? How can I get there? What will I see? How does it smell? Sound? How cold is the air? What would I hear? Who or what lives there?

So many questions - and the only way to get the answers is to BE there. Breathing deeply, taking in the scents and sounds and sights, alive to every nuance. I have never been to this exact place. I want to go there, be there, spend time there and experience it at several different times of the day.

I have been here. When I look at this photo I remember. The heat. The dryness. The sound of emptiness. The scent of wind blowing through pinon pines and cedars and hot rock. The fear of being so near the edge of such a great precipice. The adrenaline rush. The beauty of rock layers in many shades of orange, yellow, white and brown. I remember the wonder and awe, the thinking of "how did God make this?", the feelings and emotions of praise and thanksgiving that our God is so great.

Beautiful Photos Today

Here are some beautiful photos from webcams on the internet, all from today (this morning in the States, this early evening here in Ukraine).

First - Glacier National Park

The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) Cam is online!
This webcam is located on the east side of the St. Mary Visitor Center and points directly at an Osprey nest on the other side of the parking lot. Several years ago Glacier Electric Cooperative constructed the platform, in an effort to keep the birds from building nests on the power transformers on the adjacent power poles. The birds seem to have taken to the new location and have had successful nests for several seasons. We are hoping that this year they will once again have chicks in the nest soon.

Due to the high winds at St. Mary the image may be blurred from time to time as the camera vibrates in the housing. Wait for another image to download and it should be clearer.

Next - Mount Redoubt, Alaska

And last, but not least, Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Wet Mountain Valley

This is obviously not correct, which may be why the 'current' photo is 3 days old. It doesn't get that cold in Alaska - maybe once in a century? Of course, who knows? Maybe it really was that cold! heh heh heh
