A trip to the Sand Dunes over Memorial Day weekend is a long-standing tradition in my family. This year for a variety of reasons, it was just John, Kara, Stirling, Mel and me who went.
The water in Medano Creek is very warm and comes in waves. It's really cool the way it moves kids downstream and how it washes the sand out from under your feet while you just stand there. You can sink several inches, but it's not quick sand.
The dunes were beautiful. There were a gazillion people there this year, but we found a place not too far upstream that wasn't too crowded.
Oh, I love my homeland!! It is so beautiful!!!
How I miss my grandson and family.
